Ok well at work recently I had a customer tell me we have frog eggs in the trees at work, from a tree frog thats rare for our area. So I took some bad pictures (below) and was wondering if anyone has any idea what they are, keeping in mind I live in eastern victoria and although I know nothing about frogs, I didn't know we had tree frogs here. So if you know frogs, whats a tree frog that lays its eggs in trees and could live in eastern victoria. :)
And don't worry its not just spit in trees :p like i said bad pics

Might not necessarily be frogspawn mate.

Some insects can produce froth like that!

Impossible to tell for sure with the quality of pics.

I'm no froggie expert either (not anymore  ) but it looks more like an insect mass to me. You do have tree frogs (Litoria) down south, but the the only non-water spawner I know of in Vic is the Baw Baw frog (Philoria frosti) which as its name suggests is only found at elevations above 1400m. It spawns under rocks and logs, not trees. I know even less about plants but your pics look like some bottle brushy thing which doesnt look like the moist environment frogs prefer??
Its only a guess so be gentle

Thanks guys, I might try for a focused picture but I am already thinking someone was telling me fibs :) Your right about the trees Olivehydra not exactly moist at all, especially since they are in a row at the side of a service station, no cover, direct sunlight nearly all day. There is plenty of the the froth in the trees, maybe I should take a branch home and see what it ends up as heh.

They're definately not frog eggs. We do have some frogs in Melbourne which don't lay their eggs in water, but none which lay anything even remotely like that. I can't tell what you've photographed though, the picture is blurry (for a moment I thought you were talking about the bottle brush seed pods! :) )

Maybe you misheard the person who told you "jees I had this frog in my throat and now its in the tree, check it out"

Heh nah he was one of those old crazy guy types that love to crap on about everything but then doesn't know how to use his only credit card.
