I have done a search on here, and not really found any info, so am resorting to posting my question.

4yo brisbane coastal, due for a shed in the next few days has a VERY red underbelly. Have only seen it like this prior to feeding (after he gets a sniff of rat and gets excited), and not really noticed it prior to shedding before.

Did see one thread on here re: a Bluey with the same, and after the shed it was fine.

So, is it likely its just slough related blood flow increase?

Thanks
Rox

Sorry Rox, I cant offer any useful suggestions, but thought i'd help bump it up.

Glad to see you have him back at last.

My snakes often have redder bellies in summer and when feeding. At this point I would think it is due to the slough coming on or possibly due to warm weather. Has he eaten recently? That can also trigger increased blood flow. If it is a uniform flush, probably nothing to worry about.

With alot of Morelias, when they eat or are coming up to a slough, there bellys can-do go pinky-reddish colour.
