hi all i have just been approached by a local rabbit farmer that wants to supply us with rabbits of all sizes they will be as follows

Pinkies 80 - 100g
Fuzzies 100-200g
Small 200-500g
medium 500-1000g
Large 1000g +

They are all farmed rabbits (food industry quality) so are guaranteed 100% free from virus, infection, poisons and insecticides.

Just looking for a level of interest before i go ahead with this, any help would be greatly appreciated

Couldn't say without knowing prices on the sizes.

cheaper then rats:) and better for the snakes too. For example a 500g rat contains a LARGE amount of fat while a rabbit of the same size has no fat just lean muscle mass and are also highte in calcium.

the most you would pay (and this would be for a Large rabbit 1000g +) would be around the $10 mark everything under that size would obviously be cheaper

at the moment i have a stock of rats to use up, but as my snakes get bigger i would definitely consider rabbits. and as you will have a regular supply it sounds like a great idea mate!
hope you get the support you need to make it a goer.

thanks bombie i thought it was a good idea also just hope that the value (not just financial value but health value also) can be seen by all

Take care

Switch for a box of up to 20kg it will cost $55 for air freight anywhere (major airport) in australia, road freight (cold) will also be available.

Stevo. the ones you order will have 11% more color :)

I would be interested at a later stage, when olives etc get big enough to eat them. But like all have said, depends on price.

pinkie rabbits are about the size of a small rat hugsta so you may be able to use them sooner then you think.... the price will be good i promise you all that

Well if the price is right then I would be interested. But it would be more of a "treat" for my animals than a main stay diet.

thats fair enough, good to see there is some interest in them... just had a chat to a mate of mine who works for animal reserch here in Hoppers Crossing and he has told me that nutritionally a rabbit is double to tripple the vaule of a rat the same size (or in the case of a large rabbit many rats tapped together :) )

tapped together that would be interesting. lol i would get some if u can match my current supplier lol

i was going to breed my own, but might aswell try them before breeding them.

hey kenshin, apparently the battery farmed rabbits are fatty but the open farmed oned (the ones we will be getting) are not as they are able to run around and by doing so stay lean, they have to be under a certian percentage of body fat to qualify for table quality otherwise the resteraunts wont take them.

So all in all they are pretty lean
