So i'm house-sitting just south of Canberra and was wondering what some fun things to do are?

War Memorial, MUST DO!! Allow a whole day to look around, it is the best museum in Australia hands down.

Botanical gardens, on a nice warm day there is a pond with a huge amount of water dragons!!
Theres a portrait gallery and the zoo too

There is a reptile park there! I was going to go but didn't have enough time.
Also even if you dont like mountain bike riding go have a look at Mt Stromlo. Go to the Down Hill part of the place and watch how crazy some people are :)
There isnt that much to do in canberra

You could have a lots of fun there. Try to meet up with Julia for a latte and tell her to abolish the interstate trade restrictions on reptiles imposed by the states governments.
I could think of other "fun things" but the AFP could get interested in me ...... no, not a good idea. LOL

awesome! thanks for all the advice. the zoo is a must and the war memorial. Went to Floriade which was nice if you like looking at lots and lots and lots of flowers. kyaking sounds like fun and i want to do some hiking/trekking.

The zoo doesn't have much but it has a few things Adelaide and Monarto don't. Reticulated pythons, Cougars, Snow Leopards and White lions just to list a few. As Smithers said Questicon is pretty good and Dan40D suggested the War Memorial which is fantastic. The Botanic Gardens is alright they have a very nice tropical setup that amazed me. Then there is telstra tower and all that other touristy stuff.

Is the Australian reptile centre still there or is it now a part of the reptile sanctuary?

Went to the Canberra reptile sanctuary today, well worth a visit. Located at the old Australian reptile centre site on the Barton Highway. All types of aussie reptiles are represented with some exotics for good measure. Some interesting mixes of species in some enclosures. Friendly knowledgeable staff on board, something for everyone.

do they still have the tourist bus a red double decker buss with the roof cut off the top that does a circut? I like the national film and sound archive there

LOL Fyshwick the nation's porn capital other than Darwin ROFL

the War Memorial can be a bit errie at times if your in an exhibit and your the only one in there and you feel like the mannequins are going to jump out at ya
