So I figure I will post this on APS and see if I can be pointed in the right direction by some more knowledgable then myself.

I've decided to start hand reloading for my rifle, I have a sporterised swedish mauser, M96, 6.5 x 55 with an old action (1901). I have been using Remington corelokt 140gr rounds in it so far as they were one of the cheapest rounds I could find, but have decided to save money in the long run by reloading, and also handload to get the most out of my rifle accuracy wise.

I've got the equipment for reloading, but the question I have is this, where do I find info on the different powders and starting weights for powders and all the other technical stuff?

I've been looking but can not find any sources that say the same thing, so where would some of you guys suggest I look for starting info?

cheers

Reloading

G'day Jedi_339, Loads, methods, equipment are all covered in Reloading Manuals put out by the Projectile companys, ie NOSLER, HORNADY, SIERRA etc.

The manuals will tell you what primer, projectile, weight and type powder you need for an estimated muzzle velocity.

They are usually around about $30 and if one reads it thoroughly you will get a good understanding of the processes.

I have been reloading for rifle and shotgun for 30 or so yrs so can help out if you need a few questions answered.

Hunting forums such as AUSTRALIAN HUNTING NET also have a wealth of expertise and have reloading sub forums with members that will always be happy to offer advice.

Cheers Stunmug,

for the time being, until I have more questions

I needed a place to start, trying to google without knowing where to start is the worst part because it throws up so much info it all gets a bit bewildering

so once again thanks, I'll go see what I can find :)
