Hey everyone, my uncle seems to think there is a 6ft python lurking around his property of vines and fruit trees. Now this wouldnt be an issue except alot of my younger cousins play around there. So my question is should I hire someone to relocate it or can you give me some tips to safely do it myself? I have some experience in handling animals/reptiles so I know the basics.

Im more concerned for the snake then anything, theres alot of machinery around there and I dont want it to get shredded by something.

I'd leave it be. It's not harming anyone and probably doing your uncle a favour by scaring off the fruit bats and thrieving birds.

Gday ScottTree,
I know your worried about the kids and the snakes well being, but trust me the snake will not harm the kids and it really is helping your uncle out. If more people could only be made more aware about the TRUTH of wild Australian pythons, I would probably be out of a job.
Teach your cousins to watch it from a distance, get some photos and just leave it be. Pythons are placid creatures, that just want to live their life. They don't hunt or attack humans, they are very scared of us, but they do a very good job of ridding us of rodents etc.
I have done many call outs to pythons in houses and the owners say - " we used to get so many rats in the roof, but come to think of it we have had none for the last few years!" The reason is obvious and because they only happened to see the python on the one occasion in years of it living with them, they realise that yeah, its doing a good job and is harmless, lets leave it there!

Thats what I said to my family. Ill try and convince them to leave It and to just watch out for it.
Thanks for the replies guys!
