Greetings all,
Does anyone know what's become of the Reptile barn since the fire? Are they still in business? At the same location? Still have a good supply of frozen rodents? Anything...anything at all :)

Regards
serpenttongue.

Still have a good supply of frozen rodents?

They never did have a good supply of rodents did they? I remember seeing about 40 adult rats in a 2ft fish tank their once. I wouldn't class that as a good supply.

P.S. Not having a go at you in any way mate.

They used to have walk-in freezers full of frozen rodents and rabbits.

Apparently they have just moved next door to their shop that burnt down on High street. Last time I was there heaps of frozen rodents were available, including rabbits.

It's moved back into the premises on Henry Street (love that street name!) that the fire burnt out. They have alot more stock in, including some really nice plastic/silk leaved fake plants, but is by no means fully stocked yet. Yes, they have a fridge full of rats and mice... Hopefully supply should be good this year. Rats are being bred specifically to supply reptile barn. Hopefully they have adequate air conditioning as this summer looks like it'll be a scorcher!

Just to clarify my point, the conditions that the live rats were kept in was disgusting and I presume the frozen ones were kept the same way. I would have bet $1000 they were full of worms and all other types of goodies. Hope the situation has improved since then because I am in need of a quality supplier for both rats and mice. I went to another ?leading? supplier last week to check it out and found that every bag of mice, rats & chicks was full of ice. Looked as though they had been thawed then re-frozen. Kellyville Pets is the best supplier I have been able to find so far but quite pricey. It?s worth the extra money though in my opinion.

i was in reptile barn on wednesday 7th sept they are back in the original shop in henry st. they were busy moving lots of new stock in. there was not a lot of mice and rats etc, but do have some available, it will not be long and it will be back to normal. i do not remember seeing rats and mice in 2ft tanksand they always had plenty of frozen stock.
good luck to reptile barn.
cheers.

i do not remember seeing rats and mice in 2ft tank

I have seen them overcrowd a 4ft tank many a time, even when it was back at Kemps Creek.

All pet shops, even reptile barn, overprice their rodents. I avoid buying rats or mice at a petshop. Privatly is far cheaper!

Cheers Alex

Ive bought rats at Lidcombe and not seen anything untoward about them.
I have been to the reptile Barn some time ago and dont recall any problems there either.
Dont have connections to Kellyville pets do you Mr Bredli?
If you can buy your frozen rodents from Kellyville all I can say is you mustn't buy many.

yeah kellyville pets is do darn expensive even for cockroaches thats why I had to start breeding my own.

Yes, but where do you find a top quality private breeder??

Yes that's a good question.

I have found the frozen rodents at the reptile barn to be quite good. Never had problems with them and as i buy bulk, the staff give me a decent discount.

The best rodents i have come across were at Mintos pets at Cambelltown. Really good with plenty of meat on their bones but unbelievably expensive. They were selling medium sized rats as extra large! I couldn't get over that!!

I always get mine from Lidcombe and I have never had any problems and the staff are always polite and helpful, Kellyville is too expensive!

Haha.. yeah Kellyville Pets is the one place to shop for all your reptile needs. Probe Themostat was $65, now just $140! Wire mesh light guard, was $14, now just $30! Tell them MrBredli sent you!

I have my sources, put out a few wanted adds, there are plenty of people wanting to offload Rats.

Cheers alex

I don't go to Kellyville after a friend had a very bad experience. She bought a male Eclectus (with health guaranteed on leaving the shop) which came down with a bad case of coccidiosis 2 days after she got it home. Well, after getting it treated at the vet, she presented the vet bills and bird to kellyville (some $800), telling them what happened. They refused to cover vet bills, as they claimed the bird was not from their store. Very poor form in my opinion.
