Hi, Not sure if I am on the right forum.

I first got my reptile liscence last year, and I havent returned the book to the DECC. Its already past april and they say they still want it. I will send it to them ASAP.

I only have 3 herps. Are there any fines or anything if you dont send the book back?

I got my liscence in february this year so didnt bother sending in the book. They havent contacted me though, did they contact you?

All books need to be sent back in April if there has been a change to your collection, so if you just got your Lic a month or so ago, and bought a snake, you need to send it in. I havn't heard of anyone getting fined myself, but of course it certainly could happen, esp as they have been stepping up a gear in recent months, doing spot checks ect.

In Victoria, we dont have to send the book back, they post you one page of the book that you just fill out and post, I guess it saves you posting a big thick book.

Qld has the best system. We just have to send in a movement advice at the time of purchase or sale and that's it.

Just another example of where Qld are ahead of the game.

:lol::lol::lol:

So in QLD if you made 10 purchases in the year you would have to send off 10 pieces of information.

Victoria is better, one sheet once a year no matter how many purchases you had in the year!

Yeh but in NSW we have had the same bird books since 1975,why change things and regulations that are inefficient, time is a great healer and when your onto some thing stick to it,thats why we keep womas up in class two to make sure they get extra special attention,we will never put them down to please the efficiency of others,we are our own little black ducks in NSW.
When captain arther phillip arrived at botany bay the first thing he did was send a convict over to the hurstville DECC office so he coud put his books in cause he was running a bit late and he was scared of getting fined, offered to let the rangers flogg his convicts to make up for it. :)

Vic

Vic's the easiest.

Log all your animals on the page (photocopy more pages if need be) and send it in.

Not sure what the point in sending the book is if it can be done on one page with less postage.

I presonally think it's about time that Austarlia (as a whole) has unifromed licensing laws and requirements, as far a record keeping. Then we can move onto the next step of allowing animals into Vic that are currently not allowed. Much easier across the board.

Another victorian show off,our system in NSW is inefficient but at least its something we can call our own, like swine flu, whats the good of keeping a book if youve read it before,if you just sent one page in the officer would be getting just juicy and feel unfullfilled in his quest for knowledge!

Yep.

We just fill in the movement advice online and then send off one copy to the EPA. You only have to fill in the first page of the advice and the following pages are filled in automatically when you print it. Much easier in my opinion than having to send a book off each year and risk having it go missing in the mail.

I hope you don't own any reptiles otherwise you are breaking the law. Whenever a reptile is purchased or sold, a movement advice has to be filled out. One part is kept by the seller, one by the new owner and one part is sent into the EPA.
