hey guys, i have a very big problem...in september i have to Denmark to see my Grandmother who is very sick..and there is one problem to that, by that time i will have a gravid woma python and no one I know will be able to take care of that
what can i do if you can give me any advise
cheers

lol i'm sure there are A LOT of people who would gladly take on your gravid Woma.... only problem is, the babies may not come back with the mum....lol

Sorry to hear about your sick grandma - in all honesty, I hope you find a good solution to your predicament...

Im sure you could find someone to look after it for you if ,maybe you were prepared to give up a hatchie or 2

yeah, i was thinking of giving them to someone, but thats the only problem, the hatchies are going to be worth alot of money and i didnt feel 100% confident giving them to someone...they are from reduced lines
cheers

if you're in NSW, try and get in contact with a local wires volunteer - they MAY be able to snake sit... unfortunately, you're going to be stuck with the problem of possibly losing some hatchies... but it's the only option i can think of if you don't know anyone else

maybe a silly suggestion but what about your vet? if you have one

or one of their staff members?

would you only need someone to go in and check on her or do you want them to actually take it all to their place to look after?

im sure if you just need someone to pop in every few days etc you should find someone who can do it for you and instead of offering them a hatchling how about offering them the money you would get for one?

I have a similar 'problem', I'm off to the UK and Europe for a month from October to November, and need to find a way to get my Spotted Python looked after.

u could find someone who has no intrest in that type of snake and ask them to look after it. but realy all in all i think loosing 1 or 2 hachies but have someone looking after you snake and the rest of the hachies has got to be better then leaving them aling possibly all dieing off...if my rents would let me keep snakes here i would happily look after it for you because altho i like snakes rents would kill me it and evrything else so u no u would get them all back :p

hopefully u could find someone, if i had the experience and if i lived near you i would offer to help and wouldnt expect any payment or offering im just that kind of guy, hopefully theres someone out there who could help.

I would totally look after her too if I had the necessary experience! I have no interest in keeping the hatchies, but the experience of looking after them would be awesome!

In reality if someone is going to take on your responsibility, and looking after someone elses snake is just that ...especially as most have their own collection to worry about and risks of disease and other problems can and sometimes do occur no matter how careful you are ...offering a hatchy or two for their kindness and generosity for taking that on ,shouldnt be looked at as a problem ..IF it were me that would be part of the deal along with my gratefulness that they took my snake on .

Oh No!

I had a similar problem with my beardies last year. I had had them for 18months (my female was a week or two off from laying according to my calendar) and had not left them for more than two days and i had to go away for two weeks.

I employed my housemate with $200 for two weeks and wrote a detailed day by day explanation of what to do. ie. Monday morning check water and temp from overnight feed greens spray with vitamin spray. remove old food. check egg box.

I did that for every day twice a day for the entire two weeks. And stocked my fridge with everything he would need to feed them. I was really nervous leaving my guys alone and i still called every second day to check.

I did have a nice holiday though :)

maybe the reptile park (the zoo) they MAY take her on for a hatchie, it would give them some fresh blood, and they will have lots of gravid snakes anyway ...

surely there is someone in sydney with experience :D

Here is the thing to think about! Why would anybody take on a snake from another collection? the risks are huge and not worth contemplating.
Dont you people understand quarantine protocols?

well I was more thinking of the person coming to thier home ,so snake isnt moved.
risky still ...

As others have said the issue would be quaratine, i for one would be very reluctant to help a stranger which in turn could risk losing everything. Its a tuff call and i wish you all the best, giving away 2 hatchies is nearly a must if someone puts their hand up.
