Hi,
I took this shot today:
I wasn't sure what was so, er, striking about it at first. Then I realised, leaving aside ads for zoos, wildlife parks and wildlife demonstrators, it's probably one of the few advertisements I've seen where a snake is just a snake. It's not trying to bite anyone, it's not even scary. And although it's a painting, neither have they gone the other way and "cute-ified" it, if you'll pardon the expression. In fact it's a reasonable representation of a jungle python, apart from the glowing red eye and the green tinge.
(I'm not sure I'd call it an effective ad because without looking at the picture, I can't remember what they're advertising. I was probably so excited to see a JCP on the side of a bus I didn't pay any attention.)
I'm inspired to open up a discussion about reptiles in advertising. What ads do you remember that had reptiles in them? As a reptile lover, what did you think of them?
