Im a member of a few different forums and all of them have a reputation system. where members add or reduce the reputation of another member through their posts in the forum. This would be a good system i believe as it would highlight experienced members that have vast knowledge, as their posts, if helpful will be acknowledged by other members with a positive rep. Reputation in forums is displayed numerically and we would be able to see the reputation each poster has, therefore we know that the poster is respected amongst others and that their posts are helpful. It would kind of be like the 'like' system this forum already has just a bit more clear and numerical.

Just a thought, let me know what you guys think about it. Admin have a think, is all im saying.

cheers guys

It's a theory that could work well for members who have been around a long time on that particular forum but doesn't take into account the knowledge of new members who may imply have not decided to dive into the online world of the forum yet but may have an excellent knowledge bank tp offer...

this is true. but if they offer valid knowledge and are helpful im sure other members would contribute to their reputation...

Has been tried, was a bit of a love in. That's cos we all respect each other
so much and consider each contribution as a blessing

Maybe, although I'm on a few different forums and I always find the members with a good rep are well known on the forum and it doesn't take long for people to point newbies in their direction if they have some specific useful advice to offer.

That said I don't really go in for the whole 'liking' thing which this is similiar to, I'm more of a 'use your own gut instinct about other posters' kind of person.

lol!

Cypptrkk90 it was scrapped after about two days because of how many fights it caused in such a short period. I'm not a member of any other types of forum (only a couple of other herp ones) but my understanding is that this site is terrible for the amount of bickering and immaturity. So this sort of system was/is always going to fail
