the alligator was alive when they found him, so he did survive.
i want to know how he survived untill they had to put him down

Aligators brains are in a nice little compartment surrounded by skull about the size of a mans thumb. So its pretty hard to get a knife into it. And if the knife didnt hit any major organs (throat, veins, arteries ect) in the area, which is rare but likely, it could have survived for a few days after the attack.

In some croc culls in the past the cullers would try to shoot the nostrils on the croc first so it couldn't breathe well and it couldn't submerge for long making it easier to catch and shoot. In the Broome croc park they have a big male that you can see where the bullet took it but missed the nostrils. Hideous practice

Idon't think i've ever seen a croc with a skull the size of a mans thumb or a man with a thumb the size of a crocs skull???
