   I cant belive that one of my favourite all time guitarist/showman has been shot dead by a wak-job-gun-toting ex-marinein the USA. Some of you will know and appreciate who I'm talking about and others just won't care, but it saddens me alot. Saw it on the news this morning and could not beleive my ears. Being the ex founder of Pantera I'm sure he has plenty of fans on this site who are equally as shocked as I am. Geez we are lucky to live in a country where sensationalist actions such as shooting the successful and entertaining (or anybody for that matter) are very less frequent. RIP Darrel "Dimebag" Abbot.

the guy was yelling this at him this is for breaking up pantera

Yes, very sad man. On my 18th birthday (September 26th 1996) I got to hang out with pantera and drink with them in the hard rock cafe Sydney (the night before they played the entertainment centre). Top blokes! Dimebag was great, lots of fun, Ive get it all on home video. Pantera singing happy birthday to me man. It was wicked. A night I will never forget!

RIP Dimebag.

Daniel

that would be a night to remember.

God what a shock !! He was an awesome guitar player even when completely smashed!! "Cowboys from hell" and "Vulgar display of power" had a huge impact on me.

I not the biggist fan but have a few albums lying about and I have enjoy blasting cemetary gate on the car stereo

I couldn't believe it when i heard that on the news last night.

Why, oh why couldn't it have been Shannon Nolls instead?

nah i would much prefer Britany Spears....

Recently i have been getting into heaps of old music, that i have found in my dads collection. It's great stuff. Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Eagles, Guns N' Roses, etc etc. Bear in mind i am 16.

Rap music for me.........
I too dig the rap.

I am 26 and have been listening to rap since 1993. Still the best IMO. But I can never go past my all time favourite rock band - Guns N Roses............. :)

for all the youngsters on this website. can i say who the hell?
The Cowboys from Hell westy. (you were close mate :) )

Excellent Oz, thats great to hear. Ive got a fair few picks as ive seen em on all trips out here and i must say one of the most electrifying/fun bands ive ever seen. the Vids/Dvds are absolutely worth taking a look at for those poor unfortunates that havent yet experienced Pantera in full swing.

well if yas are into rap then you can mourn your fav rappers just about every week. its those gangster mentalities that lead to these kind of actions. I'm not knockin' rap music as i like alot of it myself, its just the dudes that sing it that plop me off a fair bit. But Diamond, you sound like ya know the stuff as ya can't go past the Gunners mate - Go Slash  (sorry, no top hat smiley's)

Rap music- the ideal outlet for people that can't sing or play a musical instrument. I guess there are lots of Aussie kids that can relate to growing up in a black ghetto. I always get a laugh out of the "Homies" that hang around the local mall or drive around in their 'doof doof" cars.
You can't go past the Gunners tho, two guitars playing contrasting riffs, walking bass lines instead of just pumping out the root note and Axel screaming over the top of it all.
AC/DC will always have a special place in my heart. Simplistic riffs ( well..not Beating Around the Bush) with a distinctly Aussie flavour.
Back in Black and Appetite for Destruction would definitely be in my top 10 albums of all time.
