Rooted Android Phone Experience?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has a rooted android phone (the android equivalent of a jail-broken iPhone), and if so, is it worth the effort?

Any ROM suggestions? I was looking at MIUI, looks really nice and sleek, and the suggestion of being able to block individual numbers, as well as all unknown numbers, seems worth it in itself!


Yes I know this can void the phones warranty,
And you need too back up your phone,
and theres a risk of bricking- the phone being unusable.

But I'm very tempted and wondered about others experiences.

At first the title of this thread was offering so much.... But the content delivered so little - very much gutted...

I wanted to see your smashed up 'droid phone, perhaps run over by a steam roller.... Or at the least smashed with a hammer!

Let us know how it went. Optus puts so much bloat-ware onto its phones they are almost unusable. I have 9 pages of near useless icons on my phone

Well worth it on a I phone and even more so on a android you can open them up to do amazing things I phone jailbreaks can only dream of.

Ditto with 3, I'm so sick of all the programs they've loaded my phone with and I'd never use and cant delete...such as twitter and celebrity horoscopes!

I have done my HTC desire ( bravo) that I rooted. Best thing I could of ever done. Now I have a galaxy nexus. And even with it been a very stock UI I'm thinking I might root it once they bring out some good ics roms.

And why aren't you using celebrity horoscopes?

Optus (or whoever your provider is) put that on there for your benefit.

How else will you know what to wear when Uranus is in line with Venus....
