Going to build an enclosure for my female Darwin soon so decided I would go to Bunnings and get a cordless drill. Well they had some Ryobi One + packs containing 2 batteries and one drill and one impact driver with fast charger for $120.00. It seemed like a bargain so i got it. Anyhow I charged it up and did a few odd fix it jobs about the place and this thing seems fantastic. I know it is early days but does anybody else have these drills and any comments...good or bad.

Ryobi's aren't bad, personally i'm a Hitachi fan for impacts, for the average handyman and a bit of household DIY most brands wil be the job nicely. Being a landscaper i've used and abused many brands and hitachi's are the only brand that stands up to building 30 sq/m of hardwood decking a day. But like a said the new cordless ryobis are pretty good for average use, and them all having the same sized battery packs is a real bonus, an extra battery is almost as expensive as the drill itself! Hot tip always have a battery on charge, nothing slows down a job more then having to wait for a battery to charge hahahah boss wan't too happy

Thanks for the reply Leamos...well I am a below average handyman so hopefully it will last haha. Seems to have heaps of power!

I buy trash tools from Bunnings etc. If it's occasional use they're fine. If I was still a tradie I wouldn't go near them.

I have a few different tools from the one + range and find them to be good quality for what I want, very handy for doing odd jobs around the home. For the price you can't beat them I reckon.

Hi Guzzo, Working in the tool shop at Bunnings, I find most of the customers love the pack you got...They are not ones that are returned for faulty reasons. :D being a female it is amazing how often a male will come in the Tool Shop look around for a bloke to help them even though I am standing right there..;) Then there are the customers who appreciate the help I do give them and are surprised at what I do know. You never know you may be building future enclosures as we all know you can't stop at one reptile. :D and will get to use your drill more often!

I also have a few bits and pieces from the one+ range. I love it. They are great for my purposes, being ridiculously amateur at building stuff. And, they're a pretty colour:D

I find it particularly useful to have a couple of drills, one for pilot drilling and the other for screwing. I have a Makita power drill with an easy on/off screwdriver/drill attachment (Trojan) and a cordless drill fitted with a larger drill bit and countersink bit. Makes very fast work of cabinet assembly.

For general workshop use, Ryobi would be just as good but when it comes to joinery and cutting tools, I have a liking for the German brand 'Festool'. Not by any means cheap, and therefore not available at Bunnings, but by god are their tools good quality and precise.

Thanks for the reply's guys...I suppose for $120 I can't go too wrong. With Lithium batteries do you have to run them flat before charging them?

I'm a sparky got the same package, no dramas for the last 2 years and my equipment gets used very often if not daily...

I'm not a fan of ryobi, especially their 9 inch grinders. But for you $120 for an impact and you do stuff all work with it your laughin.
