Salt levels and plants

Hi all we currently have a eastern long neck turtle in an aquarium. Current salt level is under 0.5% and we want to have the tank heavily planted but from my reading it seems very little aquatic plants will survive with these salt levels long term. Has any one had luck with salt levels like this with plants and also will we need to maintain this salt level as the ELN gets older and goes to a bigger tank and eventually the pond. Any experience and information on this would be great thanks.
