Not long picked up 2 very small yearling Bredli's - under fed and ive been feeding them up.

This one just shed and there is a very noticeable scale discolouration on her. Is this scale rot? and how do i treat this?

Cheers

That looks like the shed didn't separate properly and has damaged the underlying scales for some reason. This may be due to an old condition, injury etc. Just keep an eye on it and it should clear up after the next slough. I don't think that is scale rot, but it could develop in a worst case scenario, although highly unlikely. Keep the snake warm and dry, of course.

ok thanks

she prob hasnt shed for quite a while, and i could see a small discolouration before the shed and was hoping it would go with the shed. Both werent kept in very clean environments either.

Cheers

agree with serpentes, looks like she may have rubbed up against something rough when her skin was starting to seperate, damaging the underlying layers before it was ready. try bathing when shes ready to slough next to help things along, and avoid handling when she milks up.

Usually when it's scale rot (or is going to turn into scale rot) those patches will be sticky, and will have lost their glossy sheen.

Her last shed was in tact...

ok so keep an eye on her - keep her warm and dry...

thanks people!!
