The puffer fish can still kill people even after it is dead if it is not cooked properly.

Actually cooking puffer doesn't degrade the posion. You can eat puffer by carefully preparing the meat, via repeated washing and ensuring there is absolutly no skin or entrails. The Japanese call it fugu and only licenced chefs can prepare it. It still kills a few Japanese a year.
