Over the past few days I have noticed my female Coastal on the floor of her enclosure (she never goes to the floor unless its for toileting) near my male Coastal. This morning in particular I noticed she was slithering on he side near him... Is she wanting to mate with him or is it something else, this is my first time breeding snakes so Im not sure how they show they are interested

She has gone into the hide he is in... should I remove the hide so I can see what she is doing (Im paranoid after the stories I have heard about reptiles sharing enclosures)???

They might be mating, as my stimsons both spent the majority of the time inside the hide - I thought that one of them had eaten another, so I lifted up the hide and they were mating lol. So maybe just have a little peak and see what's going on?

Oh and this is Chris by the way on mums account.

Her body is still outside the hide atm as she is only just venturing in there... Im so excited, will see how they are when I get home this afternoon

what procedure do you need to go through to breed snakes?

and KaaTom

I hope all goes well for your snakes hiding in the hide!
good luck mate.

I have come across so many varying ideas on how to breed them, Ive heard cooling them(and different ways to do it too) and I have heard that you can just put them in together and let them do their thing....

Watever works for you... everyone has different ideas, its just what works for you

Once snakes start rooting it takes an awful lot to stop them. They wont be bothered if you lift their hide to have a look. But i think it may be a bit late for coastals to only just start now.

Well I think KAA finally got the hint through to BAZIL, they are both on the basking shelf together atm but their tails are in different areas, lets hope they get it right though. Will post pics asap

Ok here are the piccies

Along the outer edge of the basking ledge is KAA's body on the outside and BAZIL's body on the inside... KAA is just a bit bigger

Sorry mate but what are you trying to show with the pics? Is there something you wanted us to see or are we just admiring your pretty snakes? ;)

Just showing that they are together on the same shelf... first time they have shown interest in each other.. Normally they are at opposite ends of the enclosure.
I know it sounds silly but I am so excited they are not trying to eat each other
