I need an idea to get my red eyes to breed. They are outside(but currently living with my gtf's).
Can you guys post pics of your setup and the things in it. I'm cleaning their tank out now so yeah. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!:D

Cheers,
Tara:D

i thought that u left them outside at night when it rains and then they get a natural "mating response"?

i've heard of that working

It worked with JasonL(we bought them of him) We can't seem to get them to breed.

you have been attemptin it in their mating season yes?
i think its mayb more to do how the days was? if u know what i mean..like humid nd hot.
more often then not its those days that then hav a late arvo storm

obviously if im wrong sumone will correct me

Yes I have been attempting in the mating season.
Yes the days were humid.
Yes there was an arvo humid storm.
The boy has been croaking and i have seen them in the mating position.I have heard the water needs to be heated?

Are you letting the rain water hit them?
what sort of container do u hav them in wehn the storm hits
i dont think the water should be heated because the temp in the wild would go down considerably because of the showers..
so they are mating but they arent producing eggs???
is the female mature enough?

Yes the rain water hits them
I have them in their normal tank
Yes aren't producing eggs
Yes the female is mature enough because she bred for Jason.

My Redeyes used to breed like crazy kept outdoors in Sydney from Jan to Feb, you will need hot days followed by a series of rainy afternoons, electrical storms will help. I have had them breed in a bucket, the only thing that stops them breeding is incorrect weather patterns. Make sure your females are carring spawn though, or your wasting your time.

Yes Jason my female is carrying spawn as you showed us the spawn when we bought her!
