My Jungle shed last night but it was a terrible shed! It came out more as a lizard shed :( There are 'chunks' and pieces os shed everywhere!!! Normally she has perfect sheds, I don't know what went wrong this time :(
Anyway, that isn't my problem. I have dealt with this other times with my other snakes. I usually use the pillow case method or get a wet wash cloth, hold it in my hand and let them crawl through my loose grip with the cloth. That usually gets it off in one piece :)

But this time I'm not sure if I can do that and I just need a yay or nay to it. She was fed last night and I don't want to hold her because handling can make them regurgitate. she has been in the pillowcase for 3-4 hours and is just coiled up in the corner. The pillowcase is warm and on a heatmat. So should I leave her in the pillowcase or can I pick her up for 5 minutes and help her shed with the wet washcloth?

Thanks for the help guys, sorry if you can't understand what I am saying....I suck at writing threads :?

personally id be helping her myself , your not supposed to handle them in shed to stop you from damaging the skin and freaking them out when they cant see properly , the damage is done so to say so handling will make no difference really

Okay cool, she can see...should have mentioned that :p About the top half came off, just need the bottom half off. I'm worried about the feeding issue....I don't want her to regurgitate.

Cheers Rob, gonna check that out now. :)

I would follow through with the hand cloth once you have left her in the pillow case for half an hour or so. Pay special attention to around her eyes and tip of her tail. Also when rubbing around the belly lump where the food source is, just try be as gentle as possible.

Generally if you are calm and careful while helping her and leave her alone for half an hour if you see her start stressing out (trying to get away, twisting or squirming) then you should be able to help her out. Just remember that it doesn't need to happen all at once, take your time and if you need to do over 3 goes then its not the end of the world. Patience will get you a calm, shiny and happy jungle that doesn't feel the need to share a half digested rat with you :)

Good luck.

ofcourse you can help ur snake shed, just try to avoid touching the food lump.

the best way ive found to help the most stubborn of sheds is wet the snake, coat your wet hands generously in lucas paw paw ointment and rub onto the affected bits, wait 5 mins and it will wipe away with no problems.

they're back in their enclosures within 10 mins, far less stressful for the snake than spending hours in a wet bag.

lol i am usually lazy when it comes to shedding problems i just put them in a bathtub with 5 cm's or so with warm water then just them slither around for 15-20 mins then i take them out and let them crawl through a towel but i only had to do it once with my jungle

Okay cool, I'm going to try with the wet cloth now...I have plenty of time so I'll be as slow and gentle as I can.

Thanks for the help guys!

Yay! Finished :D I have a loft bed (Bed at top, desk at bottom) So I just let her climb around the bed's ladder. I very lightly gripped her tail in a wet cloth and she slithered her way out of her skin as she climbed around :) I loosened my grip a lot when her food bumb moved up into my hand, that came off fine :D
I would have got a nice piccie of her fresh shed but I thought I'd let her be and allow her to finish digesting her meal :) Thank you for the help! This was probably a silly thread anyway :( I worry to much
Here's the piccie of her shed. It's the bottom 3rd of her:

Glad you've got it off. I'm a big fan of damp face washers, and like you've done just let them crawl through it while applying gentle pressure. I'm not a fan of bathing them pre-shed, but i do have large tubs in the enclosures so they're able to dunk themselves if they feel the need, I don't mist them either ( for the same reason) I've never been keen on the damp pillowcase theory either especially on a heat tile.
I have one Darwin who has problems with tail tip retention, my fault. I missed a bit of retained shed once and he's had problems ever since, but otherwise all 6 of mine shed fine with no assistance

Whenever any of mine are in shed mode i place a water bowl close to the heat to increase humidity, all shed without any issue since doing this..

Cool, thanks for the tip reb01. I'll try that next time she sheds :)

Picture of Jungle will be tomorrow (48 hours after eating) :) She isn't the prettiest Jungle but I still love her :D

I've been lucky, only had one problem with shedding. I wet a pair of those leather gardening gloves with warm water & just let Angel slip through. She actually seem to enjoy it strangely enough ( she was a savage Jungle, lol.... RIP sweet Angel). It did the trick without any fuss, only took maybe half hour & she never had any other probs with shedding. Now I have kitty litter trays in each enclosure so they can take a dip when they need to & so far haven't had any more dramas.
