Hi,

I am prepping a new enclosure, and have found a rock wall background which will fit straight onto the back wall. However it is made of silicone/rubber $100.00. Based on the price it seems worth it for it's size. However I am not sure if it is really suitable?

Does anyone use or have experience with rubber/silicone backgrounds for pythons?

Yes it's a fake look alike rock wall
No it's not made of foam or cork

I am considering, going to bunnings and buying flat sheets of cork and using that instead then add driftwood and rocks.
This is my first time doing this. Please be nice.

Is cork sheets suitable and would you paint the cork with a clear water based sealant?

the silicone type backgrounds are fine, I've used a few mostly for my dragons but also some of my pythons.
Have you thought of making your own? using expanda foam or polystyrene and covered in tile pointing, and even painting it. You get something that nobody else has and the satisfaction of your work.
The cork would be fine and yes I would seal it
