Hi guys, This is my first post. I have set up my click clacks and am just a little confused about the temperature.. i have a heat mat connected to a thermostat set at 31 degrees. The thermostat probe is in the middle of the click clack half way up just poking through the plastic.

Now from what i have read the snake needs to keep his body temperature at 31 degrees. At the moment were the probe is the temperature is only getting to about 27 degrees. I then thought of putting the probe on the bottom of the click clack were the heat pad is and the temperature is 31 degrees (were the snake would be lying, and about 26 on the cold side).

So my question is does the air in the click clack have to be at 31 degrees? or 27 like its displaying at the moment? ..which means were the snake would be lying to get warm would be 31..

Im sorry if this seems to be a stupid question i just want everything to be perfect for when my pet arrives.

What are you getting?? If it's a Antaresia 32-34c hot end 26-27c cool end. Probe on the inside of tub on the floor not in the air. You will need a digital thermometer to clarify the right temps put the probe of this inside on floor at hot end as thermostats can give false readings to what the actual temps are.

Plenty of good books around to give you ideas on husbandry.

Keeping Carpet pythons, Keeping Childrens Pythons by Darren Green both around 20-25 bucks. Good for starters.
