Hello

I recently remodeled my enclosure and put an exo-terra 3d rocky background in the enclosure

Long story short
I caught my snake going behind the background
He got in via the cut out I had to make for the vent

I am guessing he has done this before because he seemed to know EXACTLY where it was
But just thought I would check, as a precaution (hes my first reptile so I'm still a learning worry-wart lol)
If he got in there, he can get out right??
And once he does come out, how should I stop him doing this?
Maybe clog up the cut out with some substrate?
Maybe put fly screen or mesh over the cut out bit?

Suggestions?

This is the vent cut-out

I have double checked the enclosure and have clogged up any tiny holes - mainly for the wiring
(clogged them up with blue-tac on the outside of the enclosure, and clogged it with substrate on the inside of the enclosure)
So there will be no escaping

Dont assume just because he got in he can get out, it would depend on how you have secured the background to the enclosure, if his only option is to reverse out he may start to panic if he does get stuck,
I'd be taking the background out, removing Houdini and the work out how to stop him getting back in there again, mesh behind the cut out ? be carefull that it can cause him damage when he rubs his nose on it.

Liquid nails is commonly used for attaching backgrounds, so i'd use that around the edges in particular so he cant lift it enough to squeeze in, but then you will have to find another way to run your wiring if you need to change them over for any reason.
clogging the holes with substrate will not provide enough of a deterrant to stop him pulling it out if he thinks he has a chance of freedom, but from the sound of it the holes are pretty small.
