hey guys,
today as i was cleaning my jungle pythons click clack i heard him wheezing, at first i thought he was hissing, i picked him up and cleaned his enclosure i found dry white marks on the insides of the tub, i have seen this before but i dismissed it as general stains. he uses his snout and rubs against the insides of his enclosure quite often, although the white marks are long streaks, the wheezing isnt very frequent. i have looked at his snout and there doesnt seen to be any mucus, although it does look shiny. his heat may have been unplugged for a few days to a week, although he is quite a large jungle (1.2 metres) i will be taking him to a vet tommorow but i just wanted to see what you guys had to say.

thanks in advance, nilesh.

give him plenty of heat and humidity, sometimes my girl bredli gets very wheezy in the nose before her shed and my best guess witch im pretty certain im correct that the sound is made from the loose skin inside her nose, as thats where they start to shed (head to tail)

give him plenty of heat and humidity

When an RI is possible, suggesting an increase in humidity is hardly responsible. I am not saying you are wrong, as it could certainly be due to a slough. However, without ruling out an RI first (you haven't even seen this animal), such advice is not good. Either way, if it hasn't had any previous issues sloughing in the past, it does not need higher humidity to get the job done. I would be bumping up the heat slightly though. What are the current temps?

Nirofett - Have you checked inside its mouth? Let us know how you go at the vet tomorrow.

R.I. by the sounds, increase heat, not humidity... see what the vet says...

ok, well the vets was closed. the inside of his mouth seems normal. and he hasnt been wheezing since then, although he didnt slough. im going to keep trying to contact the vet anyway because thats the only reptile vet i know in my area.
thanks a heap guys, nilesh.

At the start of any RI you will hear wheezing

Raise temperature to 31C
Reduce humidity except for a drinking bowl
Maintain at this level for as long as it takes
Possibly will need to get syringes full of Baytril diluted by 5
But if caught early enough just warmth and dryness will be enough

how have his previous sheds been? sometimes a slightly blocked nasal passage can cause a wheezing noise from the nasal plugs not coming out completely. use vit E cream on his face and nose (rub it in by hand GENTLY and only a very small amount at a time), clean enclosure daily and give humidy-bathes daily in the evening too. then each night use tweezers and a blunt needle/pin to check if the nostrils are clear. please do this under direction if you have not done so by yourself previously as you can do some damage if you dont know what you're doing.

RE: humidy baths - in a click clack with WET paper towel at 30C for 15 mins SUPERVISED to soften any retained shed (in the nose) while rubbing in vit E cream... just to clarify :)

also note - this is if an RI has previously been ruled out! Blood tests at the vet are the first port of call!
