The journalist keeps referringto the species as a 'rust scale snake', I'm guessing it's actually a rough-scaled snake.

Unfortunately, all I know is what's in that story. But what do you expect from a journalist that can't even get the common name of the snake correct?

Yeah, but the guy is president of the local Herp Society. I'm sure that had a lot to do with the snake not receiving blunt object therapy. I suspect we haven't heard the full story, anyway.
