The bigger a snake, the smaller its head is compared to its overall body length. And since the size of a snake's head limits the size of its prey, this means a larger snake is less likely to eat a large enough toad to poison it, said Phillips.

this took me a few times to read to get my head around (pun intended)

well thats a good sign.

What is the toads natural predator in south america? If any?

I read on the internet that there are betles in Northern austrlai called lavender bettles which kill the toads. Anyone know if thats true?

What an awesome article :D

Imagine the focus brought upon these particular species of black snake etc with the public, as being one of a few native animals which has set about to fix up what we initally stuffed up! How smart are they! :D

I knew crows had worked out how to eat them, by avoiding the venom glands but I'm wrapt that snakes are slowly evolving to also work it out - great stuff! :D

Many of the native animals in South America are immune to the toxin. The Cane Toads naturals predators include many snakes, caiman and larger toads.
