My yearling Port Mac seems to be making a sneezing sound. For a lack of a better description it sounds like trucks blow off valve. There is no redness or mucus coming from his nose or surrounding areas and his behaviour hasn't altered. He shed last about 5 to 6 weeks ago so to me that rules out any scales being stuck in his nose or anything similar to that. I have never had any health issues before with reptiles so this is new to me. Besides the sneezing sound he is no different to normal and shows no other signs that hint a possible respitory infection. I only notice it when I am handling and have tried to listen when he is in his enclosure but it is relatively soft so pretty hard to hear. Any ideas guys??
Cheers, Adam

My friends Carpet python does that - it's more like a *sigh* or frustrated noise. I believe he calls it "bluffing" just showing off. not real medical issue or issue at all.

So its a hiss showing annoyance at being handled or disturbed, or does it do it all the time with every breath?
And how old is the snake?

Cement, he only really seems to do it whilst being handled which obviously led me to also believe it was from handling. He is a yearling and seems to deal with being handled really well as he has never bitten and isn't flighty at all whilst being held. He is also certainly not held for excessive periods and is also only held once maybe twice a week.

one of my diamonds hisses alot, sounds just like air being released from a valve,...hers isnt RI related, shes just a cranky lil mole,... ;P

if ur worried tho it cant hurt to bump temps up a couple of degrees to see if it stops,...

hahah well said in the description of her PMSL

my male jungle does it to just them releasing air quickly apparently cause there not happy

Yeah obviously I know snakes hiss but I haven't heard it sound so short and sharp! Temps are 30 at hot spot which i think is reasonable. It would just seem strange for it to be hissing when he is so calm and placid :)
