Looks like another redback. Just maybe a young one, male or something.. But dont quote me on it

I have a whole bunch of spiders that look a little similar. They're the shape of redbacks but their legs and head(whatever the correct terminology is) are that orangey red colour and the big round body bit is like a dark green/grey... so looks like that one in the second photo, but without the white.... I think I found they were red house spiders: http://www.usq.edu.au/spider/find/spiders/362.htm

I don't know if it's the same sort of spider, but I found that site good for identifying spiders.

its not red house spider because if im not mistaken this species was found in a curled leaf in the middle of a web red house spiders builds a small, tangled web in dark corners if inside a house or under rims of garden pots and similar structuress. so this would be it http://www.usq.edu.au/spider/find/spiders/113.htm

The first spider is from the family Tetragnathidae, probably a Phonognatha graeffei (leaf curling spider), or one of the other three species in that genus found in Australia.
The 2nd spider is of course the redback spider.

Identifying spiders is a very difficult process for a number of reasons,
1. They are small (many spiders are smaller than a pin head fully grown)
2. The best spider identification guide can only identify spiders down to Subfamily (not species)

i thought the males didnt have a red stripe. maybe im wrong though :)

Nope they don't, instead it's white. Latrodectus hasselti displays sexual dimorphism, that is, the males are significantly smaller in size than the females which can be seen in this photo below from abc news in science website.

you see both male and female red backs all the time in melbourne i had a red back in my room for yonks behind my clothes draws. when i found her geuss what he web was full of..........CRICKETS. i left her in there cuz i hate it when a cricket gets out and turns out to be male and just chirps all night. she was doing me a favor and the chances of her coming near me are close to zero. :'( she died a couple of weeks ago. found her dead in her web.
