hey everyone,

I was wondering how I start a website and what is involved. I have done a google search but it still didn't clear much info up for me.

Basically where I am now is:
I have a URL that I would like to purchase (via godaddy)
I want a website that is quite basic but with options to expand and advance in the future.
I can use iweb but outside of that don't know where to go (I'm happy with iweb to start with but not long term).
What fees are involved? Once off or ongoing?
How do I get it published/hosted? I don't expect much popularity to begin with but may need more as the site grows.

What I want:
A site with a gallery, information, details on how we are growing and what we are doing, also a contact email address.
I also want to be able to sell items later on (1-2 years) online. If practical.

So as there are a few people here that have private websites that look nice, neat and professional (not like a 15yo social media page) I thought I would ask those here for any advice. It is a non-herp related page as well, if that makes any difference to my enquiry members/mods.

Cheers
Daniel

Firstly you need to purchase your Domain Name which has to be renewed every couple of years I think.

Then you have to pay to host it somewhere, this is usually a monthy fee, mine costs $9.90/mth ( I can pm the name of the hosting company i use if you are interested). I bought my domain name through the same people that i use to host the site.

I use 'CMS made simple' as I only have a fairly basic site and it is easy to modify the site regularly without needing to know how to program.
I will pm you the name of my site so you can take a look and see if it is close to what you are looking for.
