Hi everyone...

My husband and son have always wanted a python. Finally we are in our own house and can have one BUT I really want to do a lot of research first to make sure we know what we're doing and have some serious knowledge behind us we begin.

So where can we learn all this information?

We need to know about environments, temperaments and handling...Is there somewhere where we can go and speak to people about having pythons? What to expect etc? How they have their set ups?

We're in perth (Thornlie) and a few helpful pointers to get us started would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Welcome to APS! :)

You're sure to get a lot of help around here, I know I did.

First you might want to sort out licensing, I'm not sure how different it is in WA compared to the other states. Get another user who knows about it to confirm. But I think it is pretty different with importing and exporting snakes to different states? Or am I wrong?

Many of these topics come up weekly - people asking about enclosures, heating, feeding etc. Though they come and go, they are still around somewhere, that's when the search function is your best friend. Search around for what your looking for and maybe tell what your deciding to do, get a first-hand opinion on it.

Beware, reptiles are more addictive than they seem...

With that, welcome and enjoy your time here.
