I've got a little suggestion about the basic layout of the site.
What is to stop the Chat thread topics remaining in an area like the one scrolling up the side of the screen and removing it from the main reptile related threads???
Some may even suggest losing the Chit Chat section all together, but personally I think it would be a shame and would eliminate the human element of the site. I actually like hearing the fishing stories, seeing the photos and reading about the fact that some mad mongrel tried to swim across a raging torrent
I think the problem is that people can't distinguish between the serious threads and the jovial ones. Because they are all grouped in together it makes it hard to draw a line between the two.
As far as people fighting with moderators etc, I'm not really aware of the goings on in that department. People will fight, it's human nature, there are a lot of really big egos and fat heads that frequent this site and really there is no need for apeman-style chesting competitions  It's a website for heavens sake! People need to keep that side of things in perspective. Imagine if you took everything for gospel on here????
I've said it once, and I'll say it again, I don't need this site to care for my snakes. I have come to enjoy and know many of the members from here in regards to going on day trips and attending BBQ's and I think for the site to fold, for whatever reason it is, and I'm still baffled as to why, would be a shame. Fair enough if there was financial reasons for shutting down (I wouldn't have a clue as to the cost of running and maintaining this site) but anything else seems a bit of a cop out.
Slatey, if you don't like who is on here for whatever reason, get rid of them. It's your party, I think you need to have a stronger stance. Shutting this place down is exactly what the ones who are stirring up the mess want you to do.
Anyway, I think segregating Chat from the rest of the main threads is a positive step, I know some people like to keep this site as reptile related as possible and do not enjoy all the Chat in the threads - perhaps this leads to what could be avoidable frustration and negativity towards some members and then negative feeling towards the mods who have to sort the situation out when it turns nasty. It then makes it simple: If people post chat in the main threads, warnings and suspensions are easily warranted.
Da da!! The End
(ps: I loved writing essays at school :lol
