So, hi guys!

I have a quick question. We have two yearling albino Darwin's, one is a champion feeder, the other not so much. She only eats when she feels like it and all other times just continuously cruises around the tub uninterested. A while back I saw a post about some wonder item which makes food irresistible to snakes who have trouble feeding and I'd like to know what it was and how I get some!

All our snakes are around the same age and she is much smaller than the others and I hate wasting rats!

Help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

there was a thread recently on a md i think it was that hadnt eaten and the op got it to feed using tuna oil, you could also try feeding a small prey item to stimulate its feed mode then feed a larger one, hope this helps, there is also wombaroo reptile supplement you can use by mixing it into a porridge style mixture and syringe it down the throat

Thanks for the link. It seems that the wombarroo is mainly for snakes who never feed. She feeds but only every second or third try. And yes it's annoying losing a rat each time but that's not my main concern. I really don't know whether to stress her out more by administering something forcefully. I think I might try another rat tonight with a few pin *****s in its head instead.

Oh the joys of a stubborn snake!

If we feed her one smaller item she won't take the second one. Already had a go at that.

why would you administer something forcefully when its already feeding??? Try giving the snake something other than rats and it might eat straight up...

Alright, so my next question is: where do I get quails in Townsville?

Try quail, as quail never fail, well sometimes it does : )First try scenting the rat with quail.Lol my phone hadn't refreshed so I guess I was beaten to it!Good luck

Also, try really cranking up the hot spot temp. If you can do that while still keeping the cool end reasonably low, it can do wonders. You'd be surprised how much difference ever a couple of degrees can make

It got my MD interested in food again. He's yet to actually get any down though. Even though I went down from Weaner to Velvet/Fuzzy Rats. Last time he tried eating it from the side and then backwards but just couldn't get the job done.

If you can't get any Quail still give the can of Tuna (or someone else suggested BBQ Chicken/Chicken Leg) a try.
