hi can someone tell me the difference between a lite coloured carpet and a dark coloured carpet, is it just where they come from?

yeah, it would depend on the region (murray darling, darwins, coastals ect)

Or do you mean like hypomelanistic ect??

sherm what does hypomelanistic mean, the reason for me asking the question was the female carpet i brought has the same markings as the male but she is very dark as he is a lot lighter

Hypomelanistic means no black pigment. You will find no two snakes are the same in colour or pattern even if from the same area. I have three coastals all from the same clutch and they are extrememly varied in colour.

Dark and light occur in many areas often together. Identifying the origins of carpets is very often difficult and you couldn't possibly start to base any judgement on 'dark' or 'light'. Many of the carpets for sale now are mongrels anyway.

thats dissapointing. the fact that breeds are getting mixed. nothing pure in the end.

If enough people are keen enough to get locality pure animals if they intend to breed, we can keep things going.
