A quick question:

I have been breeding King/Super Mealworms for some time now and have been reading through many of the online care sheets (eg Super Worms - Zophobas moria) however I am unable to find a clear answer for the following question:

Can newly hatched mealworms be placed directly into the colony of adult worms? If not, how long must the be separated for?

Anyone else out there breeding these guys?

Cheers

Mike

anyone?

Its best to have several generations going. Adults are beetles and you keep them separate. They need to be warm to morph and breed.

I breed them. If you do it you will lose some to predation by the larger worms or beetles if you keep them in with them.

for giant meal worms its recomended you separate the pupae as they are more canibalistic then regular meal worms but you can house all sizes of work together

i am getting a bearded dragon. But im scared of worms so idont really know how to feed im cause i will be extremely scared!!!! lmao

They are not a true worm, they are just a beetle larvae. Make sure thats not qall your feeding it, mealworms should really only be offered as a treat

A treat? I can't get my White Lipped Tree Frogs to touch them. Everything else in the house eats them.

some things wont touch them but the ones that do seem to love them and will eat far too many given the chance

When keeping Giant Mealworms separate singularly for forcing them to change into pupae and then onto beetles, should I keep a little bit of wheat pollard (mealworm substrate) in with them or keep them bare on no substrate? I have them in a plastic fishing lure/tackle box container with individual compartments.
