Now being herpers i'm sure you've all heard some laughable tall stories at one time or another like 25 foot bhp's etc, well here's one i heard the other day...Ayoung lad was telling me that if a taipan gets run over and not killed it will bite itself repeatedly to make sure what comes along next to eat it dies

Anyone else got any goodies???

Thats great, the person that came up with that must be so full of it.

I would like to hear what else he thinks he knows. lol

Say what you really mean Browns...LOL

Freinds of relitives from down the south coast came out with old "Browns snakes only travel in pairs, where there's one there'll be more" crap the other week. She then argued that it was true, so when I mentioned they had only killed 2 browns  months apart and where were the other two partners, she shut up....Silly old cow. I think I'll shoot her next time for killing snakes that weren't even near them. Aaarrgghh I hate ppl like them.

'Browns and carpets now interbreed!!!!, or so i was told"
Who told you that?I would never think of interbreeding with any carpet

On a serious note i've been hearing that one as well as pythons breeding with death adders for umpteen years and most stories have come from cane farmers and handed them down to their kids etc....it's a worry!!!!!!!

When I worked for the colonel, a guy walked in and had to duck to avoid hitting his head on the 2 metre high doorway.
Man, was that guy tall!

Now thats a tall story if ever I heard one.......

I've told you a million times Greebs, never exagerate.

I would beleive it. When I was in form 1 (year 7) I had a class mate who was 6 foot tall.

Cheers,
Wombat.

Up Here the Carpets are actively breeding with Taipans, yup a farmer knows a bloke who read about this guy who was told by his neighbours son about these people who know. lol

Funny you post this. I have also been told this before. The person who told (can't remeber who it was) didn't mention Taipans in particular, just said venomous snakes do this. WHat a crock of #^@%....

I had a guy at my school who was in Yr 9 and 6ft 7. He was a big son of a &*%$#. That was 10 yrs ago. WOnder how big he is now??!!

I reckon I know how this one started. If you make an elapid angry/ excited enough, it will bite itself. Running over a snake would tend to make them angry and they would bite the area that is causing them pain. My guess would be that people have seen them biting themselves and the story has grown from there.

RE: Re: RE: Tall stories!!!

Rumour is that if you kill a snake or lizard around where I live a bloke will come round your house and abuse the crap out of you.

RE: Re: RE: Tall stories!!!

I think you guys need to wizen up a bit. Of course taipans and carpets are interbreeding, its just one great rootfest in QLD, snakes DO chase people ALL THE TIME ( i personally know blokes whose mates had it happen to them ). Come on fellas, just cause you dont believe it doesnt mean it didnt happen. Snakes are cunning, murderous, nasty and often get together to plot the overthrow of humans and the rise of the serpent. Dont trust em. Slimy bustards.

RE: Re: RE: Tall stories!!!

I work with a guy that is so full of it, and he never shuts his mouth, it drives me crazy.

The other day he's crapping on about a 6' snake going into his Grandparents kitchen and hiding under the stove. So they got the good old shovels out and moved the stove to find a 6' rough scale (Tropidechis carnatus), needless to say I got a graphic description of the carnage that followed.

This was not the first rough scale story either. So then I happened to mention that they only grow to about 1m at the most, and inplied that he's full of crap.

Funny things is he has not mentioned any more stupid stories like that.

Except for he likes killing all poisonous snakes he sees and that he goes out of his way run them over and blah blah blah.

RE: Re: RE: Tall stories!!!

Our cleaner at work swears that a friends sons' mate's brother got bitten by a carpet python.
And................
Every year it still comes out in a painful sore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I explained to her that I have had numerous python bites without this effect, and i am aware of a couple of people who also keep pythons and may have recieved a bite and no annual festering sore. But what does she believe still???????????
