TARONGA UPDATE

Have just gotten of the phone to Dr Peter Harlow from Taronga and a couple of things I need you guys to decide.

Firstly - Peter will be away on the 2nd October and is not available until the 31st. Do you guys want to go on the 31st as there are a couple of benefits such as:

If we go when he is available we can have up to 3 tours with a max of 45 ppl. If we go when he is not there then we can only have 2 tours with 30 ppl and that is providing no staff are sick off work. Peter would prefer to be there for us as he does know some of us and likes to show ppl around himself.

As for time of tours again, if Peter is there the tours can go from 9.30 am 11.30 am and 1.30pm. If he's not its 11 and 1. Each tour goes for approximatley 1 1/2 hours and a bit longer if you wish to see their bug house. So it is a decent tour in regards to time spent behind the scenes.

I need to know what date is best suited to everyone so please let me know on here.

Finally costs are still not confirmed due to the "boss" being away and I have to phone next week to confirm prices for adult and child admission.
The costs don't involve parking which is $8 (from what Peter told me).
He said if you get there early enough you can park on the street.

I'm easy either way 'cos I live in Sydney. Are we considering changing the date of the meeting as well? If the meeting is still on for the 2nd then I think we should do the tour then.

Maybe those of us who are flexible could do the tour on the later date.

Yes, for Sydneyites, it's obviously easier to be more flexible! I would certainly recommend the tour with Peter Harlow! Nicole and I bought our diamond pythons from him, and he's a very knowledgable person and an extremely nice guy! He gave us care sheets, showed us his collection and spent ages answering questions and making suggestions.

Being the head keeper there (I think) there's probably not a lot he doesn't know about snakes and lizards.

yeah but it would be a shame for the rest of us travelling interstate for the meeting to miss behind the scenes cos its on a different day . the day that either is on isnt an issue for us cos i dont think we get a long weekend anyway but it would def be better if they're both on the same day!

Sorry - I didn't explain myself too well, did I? I meant that the Sydneysiders could either hold off until Peter is back or do the tour on both days. Certainly didn't mean that you should miss out, Zoe! ;-)
