got my female bredli the other day from snake ranch.
enclosure all set up and temperatures range from 26- 33 inside the enclosure. 33 degrees over the heat mat and 27 most of the time everywhere else.
im using about 3 inches of reti bark.
my problem is that under the enclosure its getting up to 47 degrees.
its a exoterra heat wave desert heat mat. its like 4-8 watts.
i have the probe in the hot end placed in the hidy whole.
im just worried that the substrate temp is alot hotter than the air temp.

I measure the surface temperature in the hot end as this is what my snakes can contact- I measrue air temperature in the cool end. Buy one of the infra-red thermometers. It allows you to check the surface temperatures as well as the temp of your snake.
