i am looking at purchasing some snakies from a large breeder but he just quoted me $100 - $150 for freight.. everywhere i have read here its been around $55 .. I need them to come from Sydney to Moree.. What is involved in freighting and who do i contact to get a price????...

Unless someone is coming this way???? i can offere free accomodation and meals at the quarters.....

Its only 55 from Sydney to Brissy, Why it would be that much to Moree I don't know. Unless he's using a courier.

Moree is not a mainstream destination for any air-freight, so if they did travel by air it would be more expensive as it's on a rural service. It might even go by road, or by air and road. Multiple animals will push the weight of the freight container up....therefore raising the price. If they're adult snakes, they'll be a few kilos each which would almost instantly reach your $150 price just on a normal freight service.

thanks guys.
the smnakes are all hatchlings, ..
Looks like we might have to come to the big smoke

I did a rural frieght from Wagga to sydney by Australian Air Express for $30!!!! I reckon moree would be the same protocol as wagga, if not, get it delivered to Dubbo (the hub of the west..LMAO) and pick it up from there.

Or you could come to the big smoke and have a beer with uncle Sherm, i'll even put you up on my couch for the night if you want!!

get it delivered to Dubbo (the hub of the west..LMAO) and pick it up from there.

That's an option sherm, but you'd be looking at frieght + near $100 worth of fuel from Moree to Dubbo and back.

Zard, there'd be a fair bit of road freight involoved there.
Personally, if there is a few snakes involved and they cn actually get the freight organised, I'd take it.
Moree to squideny return is gonna cost you more than $100 plus 1-2 days of your life.
I paid $150 to get some pythons from FNQ to Tamworth once, before they stopped freighting to tammers.

Yes, airfreighting to regional airports is far more expensive then to the main airports. Last month I sent 2 x 1kg containers by Australian Air Express. The first to Melbourne cost $49.90. The second to Albury, which is halfway to Melbourne cost $80. That was nearly twice as much to go half as far. They really slug you to send away from the main routes

I may have a solution for you Zard, pm me ill get back to you.
