Some of you may remember a lovely young lady named Zippy looking to get a 'tail over' last year. She stuck a personal ad up on APS and within hours was introduced to an eligible and quite capable young male.

Some of you may remember me promising pictures of the resulting offspring. It's taken me a while, but here are some pictures. I have three of Zippy's babies (all male, by coincidence), two are 'hypomelanistic', although as per normal, they're developing melanin as they grow. Even though I'm stretched for space and time, I think I'll have to hang on to one of these boys.

A big thank you to Daavid and Judy for three and a half gorgeous little Brisbane carpets! :D

Sorry about the terrible picture quality

I have promised one of these to someone and the remaining one will be for sale at some point in the near future. They're all great feeders on thawed rats.

They're roughly eight months old. I'm not a big carpet fan, but I quite like these little guys :)

awww, so cute, baby animals are the cutest and baby snakes, the sweetest of them all. Love the little curious faces and huge eyes. Nice orange in that tail at the moment. :)

Yeah, the posterior third of that snake is interestingly coloured. It would be interesting to see how it looks as an adult. I like the coppery colour on the last one :) I suppose I'll be able to see how that one looks as an adult :) Unfortunately the colour doesn't show very well.

That last photo looks awsome...(I assume the black background was because of the low light - but it looks good enough for a book cover...)

ps. once again I voted for this "I, the reader of this thread, refuse to vote in a poll such as this"

(but it was a close call between that and the cut down on Dr Pepper)

Where was "die sdaji die?"

I took the "I wish Sdaji would die" options out long ago. It seemed that some APS members had difficulty grasping that style of humour and didn't react well to it. A shame really, it was fun, many enjoyed it :(

Thanks for the nice comments folks :D I think they do Zippy and their late father proud :)

Very generous with the covershot worthy comment, Alex!  Yes, the dark background is just due to the relative light levels, you can make out objects if you look closely.

So which photo is the hypo? Just out of curiostiy? And no I'm not being rude just not sure so I'm asking for some clarification.

The last three. Rudeness wouldn't have crossed my mind. There wasn't a speck of black on that snake when it hatched, but as with all hypo coastals, they develop it as they grow. Someone will probably start crossing them with hypo bredli at some stage and get something coastalish looking which stays without black.

cool looking brizzy carpets Sdaji esp the top two ...the colouration and patterning is amazing :)

Hey Sadji, Now I understand why you hae a turnip for your avitar.

Nice looking carpets!

We ve 4 left. All but one have lost their orange colouration. There is a pair that we are keeping and two we plan on selling once they are feeding well and generally thriving.

One of the ones that was a sporadic feeder I worked out a couple of weeks ago. Some times she would eat an sometimes she seemed interested but I could not get her to strike. When she did eat it did not seem to matter what the prey item was, thawed or fresh killed, rat or mouse. I even tried scenting with bird feathers. Sometimes she would eat and sometimes she would not. A couple of weeks ago I worked out what I was doing differently. It turned out that the best way to feed here was to place a thawed rat on the floor of her enclosure and let her sneak up on it. If you wiggle it or try other tricks to get her feeding it seems to put her off. She is a thaw and serve kind of girl.

Our other poor feeder is assist feeding like a champ. She is the one that retains some of the orange shade. She also seems quite amelanistic with much less of the dark markings than her sibblings. I cannot wait for her to have a few more sheds and see how her colours and patterns develop. The trick with feeding her has been to open her mouth just enough to catch her front teeth on the food item from where she has no problems doing the rest. She is just like a little kid waiting to be spoon fed ;-) *LOL*

They are all great handlers in or out of the enclosure.

I should get some photos up but our camera does not have good macro capabilities.

Someone holding a lot of take away food is either very hungry, or knows someone who is very hungry

A person holding an arm full of takeaway has warm grease running down their elbow :)

I'm glad Ben had a nice fling and fathered some babies before his untimely death :) It's a shame we couldn't hook them up again this year.
