Being the start of the trout season last week me and a mate decided to have a break from the usual fishing and chase some trout. We got several nice fish including the one below...this trout was around the 3lb mark and wrapped me around a sunken tree during the fight, this was certain death for the fish or i was going for a swim.....you can see what happened :) Did i say it was COLD
Anyway after untangling the line...which i had to break, i got a quick pic and left her go to fight again another day :)
I like my fishing

I also bumped into this very cranky brown snake, which decided it wanted to take my head off :( he stood up and struck several times (one of which was way to close for comfort) this wasnt good considering i was wearing shorts and thongs :)

All in all i had a pretty good day :D

:D Great photos dugadugabowbow!!! Thanx for sharing, seems like a pretty awesome day! Can I ask what river you were 'fishing' in? By the way in Canada we fish with 'a rod and reel'.... unless you are a bear...they fish just like you did

Cheers, Jude

Thats spot X!

I must admit it wasn't text book trout fishing but hey when the going gets tough. :)

Funny how one exotic fish can be called a pest and the other gets dedicated rivers with closed breeding seasons :?

But i love trout and they don't do any damage.

how big was the brown snake and lthe lacey? one day we went over to a mates property looking at sites to build a barn and we went past the creek and saw trout just swimming right next to the bank so we all grabbed one with bare hands and then let them go it was pretty cool.

lol fuscus.....belive me you can blame redfin and carp for that....the same pool where i caught that trout also had two golden perch in there....well until i jumped in.
Most trout water is not habitat for native fish purely because its to cold....the other places natives and trout live well together.

Ricko the brown was about 5ft...a beautiful tan brown...the lacy was about 4ft TL.

On top of that trout also need perfect conditions just to survive....they are hardly aquatic rats. They can't exactly take over like carp who can live in a mud puddle for weeks if they have to.

Looks like you had a top day man!!!Any day you see a snake in the wild is a top day i reckon, and a lacey and a trout is a bonus...
