Hi all,

My yearling Olive seems to have a severe case of 'let me through this ventitis' and all of the pushing, rubbing and poking has taken a little bit of skin off the top of his snout. What is the best treatment for this ? I'm thinking I might take him to the vet today, as it only happened this morning or should I just buy a product to apply ?

cheers,

Blake

neither unless its bleeding he will be fine, my bhp gets this all the time and every shed hes fine again its jus the surface layer thats being damaged. i stopped my bhp from doing it on the vents by putting my smelly socks in front of them.

Alright, it is just the top layer that is a little pink, but there is no blood visible. I think I will just let it be and keep a good eye on it, to make sure it doesn't get irritated or infected. haha I think I might pack the little hole for the vent with some cloth so that he is unable to directly press on it. Though, there are a lot of smelly socks hanging around....

Cheers for the help.

Got the same problem with my Olive but she does it from pushing her nose under the bedroom door .Does come out with each shed but now has a pale mark from it .I use Lucas Papaw cream .Seems to work ok

Paw paw cream didn't even come to mind, I think I might get some of that onto it. Plenty of it lying around here, thanks for that Joemal.

Treat the cause by covering the vent. Any abrasion is a possible entry point for infection.
