The Nicobar and Andaman Islands were the first hit by the tsunami's and contact with the islands has only recently been re-established. Like the Maldives, some islands have been totally devastated. And they've had three earthtremors in the last two days, which I would imagine is not re-assuring to the survivors.

And they have to contend with crocodiles.

This is by my opinion good think. Crocs can get rid of death bodies to clean things up and reduce possibility of deadly diseases.

The thing is, there are survivors who have to worry about them in flooded areas.

But I agree, they can certainly help with the cleanup.

Did you happen to see the programme on Discovery Channel about mega tsunami's. They make this one seem tiny. The tsunami that just hit was about 32meters(correct me if I am wrong) and look at the devastation.

The tsunami on fox last night was about ones caused by landslides. The place they believe will cause the next land slide tsunami in the next 1 or 200 years will cause a tidal wave of approx 600meters in height and traveling at over 800km/h(miles/h?). It is a volcanic island off the coast of Africa and will hit the east coast of the US in approx 7 hrs. It will wipe out the whole east coast of the US.

It was a scary thought after the one that has just happened.

Hugsta,

When I was at Uni we were told in one of our classes that geological evidence showed that every 200 or 300 years NSW is hit by a major tsunami. But (so we were told) about 10,000 years ago a decent-sized meteorite smashed into the Pacific off Sth America, and by the time the tsunami reached Sydney it was about 2,000 in height. The water went inland to the base of the Blue Mountains.

Hope we don't get another of those in the near future.

:p
