Ive just had my approx 6 month old female BD out for a few mins and when i put her back in she laid on her basking rock but shes got twitching in her back legs/feet, its mainly her left back leg that seems to be doing it the most, both feet are stretched out behind her like she does a lot but it seens like a bit of a nerve jerk?

now this is the first time i have seen her doing anything like this, she is otherwise healthy and is able to walk without any worries

hubby is just uploading a video he took of it to PB then ill link it here so you can go see what im talking about

ok here is the video however it seems to have settled for now, funny thing is i rang her breeder who said she had one of her's start the same thing today as well.

thinking maybe they may have laid on a nerve for too long or in the one position too long, wondering now if maybe its heat related and as i have our heater on now it could have got a bit hot inside the enclosure so her heat source and light are both turned off so that also might have been why shes stopped twitching

but in case you've not seen it before here is the video

I've seen this before with BD's I had and after researching found out it can be caused by Calcium Deficiancy and lack of UV.

When the same thing happended to my young BD I gave it some crickets dusted with calcium powder and increased UV exposure. Then it seemed to go away.

It might pay to review it's diet ensuring plenty of greens, crickets and calcium.

If this doesn't work then get him to a Reptile Vet ASAP.

looks like he is enjoying the heat.. who doesnt wiggle there toes when there sunbaking..lol..sorry cant help

sorry everyone he is a she lol

riggsy she has gone off her greens over the last few days but still eating her woodies, crickets and occasional meal worms, and i had dropped the calcium back to every few days so ill go back to daily dustings and try a bit more UV exposure, i keep offering the greens but shes just turning her nose up at them, however im still scoring some dandelions and she is eating them. someone told me they can also eat the leaves of the dandelions but im a bit hesitant about that, does anyone know if they can or cant eat them? i dont want to give her anything that will poison her

im keeping an eye on her and since i have turned off the light and heat source the twitching seems to have stopped, so i might leave her ceramic on only (seeing as now the main heater in here is on since its gotten cold) and no light source but the computer room light and let her half hibernate

must admit it did scare me at first as shes never done it before

lol tatt and she is sunbaking in the nude

Hi Jeannine

She'll need daily calcium for her first 12mths then you can drop it back to every few days. You'll need to get calcium into her now ASAP. Dust some crickets or woodies then while holding with tweezers (crickets) tap her on the nose or head or neck with them so she fires up and opens her mouth then drop it in so she eats it. About 6 - 8 crickets should do for tonight then do the same thing tommorrow until she starts eating on her own. I used to remove BD from enclosure and put into clean tub with dusted crickets. Save her ingesting substrate with food. She should have about 4 hours of UV per day and temp at hot end up to 35 degrees.

Good Luck!

thanks riggsy, she will actually take them from me now so makes feeding them to her very easy indeed and ill do the same with the woodies but feeding in a plastic tub sounds like a good idea thanks

for now she her outside enclosure is an old bird cage cause the one i have out the back has escape routes if i was to put her in there, need to get some smaller wire to make it totally escape proof regardless of her age/size so i will try to increase her UV exposure until i get a UV light for the enclosure, i have the holder just need the light itself
