Hi Guys,
Just after a bit of advice. I have a 18month old bredli who gets fed one weanling rat each fortnight. She was digesting one of these in a week, which slowly stretched out to two weeks and now has stretched out to 3 weeks. This time the poo was full of hair and black dots where previously it just looked like a dump done by a chicken.
The temperatures haven't changed and are checked regularly. She is now due to shed and I know that may have something to do with the delay in pooing. Is the hair in the poo a problem with digestion?

I always thought they were supposed to poo out the hair, as its one of the things they cannot digest?

That would be a comforting thought, but she has never done it before. I am probably just over reacting.

I often find hair/feathers in my poo too.
Well, not "MY" poo, but my Carpets poo.
If your temps are right then it should be fine.
Three weeks is a long time though.

the hair always comes out, i first noticed it when Loki took a dump on the lawn and it rained overnight, the next day there was a small pile of fluff! :)

Loki (2.5 yr old bredli) holds onto his last rat or 2 before shedding, then goes in his shed (ick)

when u say digestion, i'm guessing u mean how long it takes fro the poo to come out, not for the rat lump to totally disappear, that generally takes him 3-4 days,....

Yep, I was refering to when she finally disposed of the rat.

I guess the time delay would be due to the shed so if the hair is nothing to worry about then I will just hold off the next feed until she has shed.

Thanks all for your input
