i'm freaking out.. someone help
it's not that big of a deal but im worried for my 4 month old spotted python..recently i have noticed that his scales are just falling off, it's not too bad but still a problem. he's not due to shed n this doesnt look like shedding.. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?this is my first snake n i dont know much about them. i have studied up on it but havent come across information regarding this issue, please helppppppp

He might have mites, look for black or red dots moving around on the snake. check around the head and eye area or alternativley if he has sat in his water check for mites in the water bowl. You need to treat for the mites, which can be done with a spray. If there is np evidence of mites I would get him checked out by a vet just to be safe...

Burn? Fungal infection? Yes, if you are really worried, and it sounds like you should be, a Vet would be your best option.

dangerous course of action with that advice jason might get an infraction LOL But its true vet may be the best option wihtout knowing the full picture

Sounds like it could be scale rot too.

I Agree - when anything like that happens - just get the animal to a vet.

I agree.... Vet....

I recently had my Olive to the Vet... For some reddening on the belly... Worked out to be a infection of some sort.... With injection of antiobiotics, at the Vets for about 5 weeks.... Then the injections at home once I, and the Vet, was confident me giving them to him I brought several dosed home... Cost over $500-.. But certainly bettter than having a DEAD SNAKE....

May sound harsh...But we have pets to care for, we should be willing to spend a little bit of money on them...

Hope it all goes well...
