Hello , I have a 1year old male macquarie river turtle and today we added the 2 hatchlings to the tank today and the big guy keeps trying to bite them .

Have taken them out and left them in the click clack they came in but cant keep them there for tooo long (advised max another 3 hours)The big guy is due to go out to my parents pond next weekend .. is there anything i can do to keep the three of them in the tank till than, I dont have another tank i can keep him in :(

Get a cheap plastic tub from Crazy Clarks and keep them in that. It isn't going to hurt them, you might just have to change the water once or twice. Put a rock in there to give them something to hide under and I can't see why it could hurt them.

How big is their click clack? If you changed their water every day or every 2nd day, surely they can suffice in that just for the week. But of course depends how big it is. Turtles are very dirty and can get sick from their own pollution which would be why you were advised not to leave them in it.

thank you guys. Im already a member of the australianfreshwaterturtle site - but there was nobody online !

we have made a divider for the tank and that seems to be keeping all happy !
:D

A divider is the best way to go turtles will attack a new turtle introduced in a tank and if he is a big guy and bites the hatchos he will kill them , I learnt this the hard way.
If a turtle is brought up with the same turtle in a tank from the start i find them to be able to get along muc better, but to be honest Turtles are like snakes they like to be alone

thanks bradman .. Do you think he will get used to them over time.. or am i best sending him to my parents pond ?

You would be best sending him to your parent's pond as they could be attacked when you least expect it. Better to be safe than sorry...

when they get bigger they will be fine but for now keep them seperate, the hatchling look like food for them its not uncommon, i have a few with chipped shells cause i missed a clutch of eggs adn when they hatch the big guys wanted to munch on them
