Hey Everyone,

I recently built several tub racks and thought I would add pics of setting it up.

Firstly I bought these tubs from the warehouse, each one comes with 5 tubs that are 45x33x15cm, these are pretty decent quality as well, they normally cost $45 I think but I got them on special for $25 each.

I will be heating by running a strip of heat cord behind each tub at the bottom which is more then enough in Cairns

I bought 4

If you just put the rack together normally there is a small gap inbetween each tub so I bought 3mm mdf and cut it up, each peice gives you enough wood for 3 tubs,

I cut it into little shelves using a jig saw to fit above each tub

And made a bit of mess :D

Putting them together is pretty simple but kind of hard to explain, I built them upside down so starting at the foor and working my way up (cause there upside down)

Each leg locks in and makes a click noise as it locks in, I put in two first

Then slide the wood in then lock the wood in with the next to legs

Once its done you need to get the tubs ready, one thing I hate about tubs is putting the ventilation holes in (takes so long and its boring :( )
So I come up with a good plane :)
I invited redlittlejim and his wife over for dinner, after complain about having to do it, one thing led to another and his wife ended up soldering all the tubs for me :D thanks heaps Sonya :)

Completed project :D

I was going to paint the wood black but never got around to it

They look alright Ben,whats going in them.IMO they would be great for Anteresias,or geckoes..

They do look awesome, and it was well worth the effort to drive all the way over so Sonya could solder... Even if the noodles where under cooked :)

Nice, i was thinking same seeing in both officeworks and sam's warehouse catalogs similar things for cheap, any pics of how you set up the heat cord?

Nice job mate i would like to see photos of how you attach the heat cord
Cheers

Thats the only problem i can see,as the MDF is only a few mms wide. When i use melamine i route out a groove and place the heatcord in the groove,I suppose it could be done, but the cord would have to stick up a bit..Any photos of the cord already in place...I actually thought of a simular idea with the same shelves, however as ive already explained,i cant see how the heatcord could be flat in the MDF so the shelves slide in-out without any resistance..

I only need 1 line of heat cord per tub in cairns to maintain a 32 degree hot end in the tub, Its just going to be run behind each tub, I havent attached it yet but I sat it there to show where it will sit, I will most likely attach it with hot glue(unless it gets to hot and melts it) so then I might even use cable ties,

so pythons73 I wont actually be routing it, it will just be at the back at the bottom

Oh ok so the frame comes with the tubs.. Do we have the equivalent "warehouse" in Vic? I love it..
