Hi Victorians,

Just wondering on recording hatchlings into the books:

Do you need to write them in or just at the census?

What do you write in?

Date of hatch?

Purchased/bred by yourself with your license number?

Haven't called the DSE yet I figured I'd get a more coherant answer from here lol.

Cheers guys,

I just enter them into the 'bred' column. I then write in brackets next to it (eggs hatched) so i know it was bred by myself.

You actually need to write in when the eggs are laid ( 2 eggs removed for incubation ) then when they hatch write in ( hatching of eggs previously incubated ) then add to the total

Obviously writing a date in each time , and yes you need to do it for each separate clutch

Any chance of a scan on how you do it kupper for me to have a look at mate? Any old one will do just to give me a guide. Bit paranoid on getting this wrong lol

Edit
Sorry guys I'm getting confused now, are we talking about the green book or the yearly census forms?

Do I need to record them in the green book if I decide to keep a couple?

Will do a little later as I am at work

But put the date on the left of when the eggs where laid and write 2 eggs removed for incubation

Then when they hatched date again the number of them that hatched in the bred column and the comment hatching of incubated eggs an add the number of hatched animals to you total on the right hand side

yep. you need to enter this in the green log book.

First, you need to record eggs being laid-

enter date. enter number of eggs laid in 'bred' column. then write next to that (eggs removed for incubation)

Once eggs hatch,

Enter date, enter number of hatchies hatched in the 'bred' column. Then write next to it (eggs hatched). They then go into your TOTAL column on the right.

You also need to ensure you record if any eggs DO NOT hatch and when they were discarded.

Thanks a bunch Jay :D, I kept all the dates for lay dates and hatch dates.

Mate If you happen to see a filipino guy with long hair and red tatoos walking around tomorrow at the expo come up and say hi, we'll put some faces to the names.

Will do... if you dont know what i look like then check out the names and faces thread....... lol

I was told by a wildlife officer that you only put an entry into the bred column when you have removed the hatchy from the incubator.

we need more room on our books , i never can fit it all in the space provided

I have small and neat handwriting lol

The thing is, they do not give you training or explain anything in detail on paper. Also... when you call and ask the contact centre staff you get a different answer each and every time! They have no clue.
