hey guys jsut thought i woud see if onyone would have any information about how or what would be involved in becoming a professional snake handler or snake wrangler.
Wanting to pursue a career in collecting snake both for medical purposes and also scientific purposes.
This is something that i have been interesting in most of my life and have caught a few deadly brown and tiger snakes on my dads farm and found it fascinating. So any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again

Simon is a professional snake handler and maybe able to offer some direction. I know of a few people that collect and remove snakes from peoples property. The bigest problem is that i think there isn't enough work for snake handlers in victoria, i could be wrong about this.

Anyway contact simon through the above website and see what comes of it, wish you luck in your quest. :)

Contact NPWS to find out the correct licencing and how much they cost. I think you need Public Liability Insurance too...but I may be wrong about that.

In NSW you do require Public Liability Insurance, and NPWS won't license you until you do have it. Currently it's about $6,000 a year. Most of the snake rescuers belong to WIRES or a similar organisation who pays it for them.

Don't know what the situation is in Victoria, but I assume it would be similar.

:p
